Health protection
According to § 5 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, we as employers are obliged to carry out a risk assessment. The hazards can be of a physical, chemical, biological or even psychological nature. The design and furnishings of the employees' workstations should also be included in the workplace assessment.
If the risk assessment reveals certain hazards for our employees, we are obliged under the Occupational Health Care Ordinance (ArbMedVV) to arrange an occupational health check. Occupational health screening is an individual occupational safety measure that is intended to supplement technical and organizational occupational safety measures. By providing individual advice in addition to the medical history and examination, preventive care can promote the early detection and prevention of occupational diseases.
Our company medical service supports us in this. Supervisors and employees can use the checklist Query to clarify the need for occupational health screening and aptitude tests for each workplace to check whether a preventive medical examination is necessary.
Our company medical service will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The occupational health service offers the following services, among others:
- Workstation and ergonomics advice
- Handling carcinogenic substances
- Wearing heavy respiratory protection
- Driving and steering activities
- Vaccinations in accordance with the Biological Substances Ordinance - Hepatitis A and B
- Maternity protection

- Flu vaccinations
The Maternity Protection Act stipulates that a risk assessment must be carried out for the pregnant woman's workplace at the latest when she becomes pregnant. You can find more information on this on our maternity protection pages.
The use of addictive substances (e.g., alcohol, medication, nicotine, and drugs) is common in our society and can have both positive and negative effects, but can also lead to abuse and addiction. Addiction to addictive substances is legally recognized as an illness. All company measures related to the problem of addictive substances are based on this. Measures to prevent the dangers of addiction within the company and to provide help in the event of addiction and addiction-related illness take priority over disciplinary measures.
For this reason, TU Clausthal has drawn up a company agreement on addiction prevention and help for addicts, which regulates internal measures to prevent the dangers of addiction and the internal handling of problems and conflicts arising from the use of addictive substances.
